The Zuni Nation

General Overview: The Zunis are located 35 miles south of Gallup, New Mexico. The Zunis are a very unique tribe. For example they speak a language that is not similar to any other known language. They live in pueblos and irrigate their crops. They are considered to be direct decedents of the Anasazi Indians.

 
 

Food- They grew crops such as corn and wheat. They used the wheat to make bread.
Clothing- Men wear loin cloths, fringed white  cotton sashes, deerskin moccasins, and short leggings. Women wear Pueblo dresses and  footless stockings.
Shelter- They lived in Pueblo houses made of adobe which is sun dried clay bricks. They didn't have windows and doors on the first level, they had ladders that they would climb to the second floor and higher were they did have windows and doors.

Culture-
Entertainment: They play games such as the hidden ball game, hoop and dart game, ring and pin game, bundle and pin game, ball and triangle game, buzzers game, shuttlecock game, and many more.
 
 

Religion: They had full-time religious leaders with shrines or temples. They believe in a spiritual force that all life comes from. They have religious ceremonies. They also believe when they die they would go to a another part of the universe and become another soul. 
 
 
 
 
 

Arts: They make sculptures called fetishes and they use turquoise on them a lot. Other arts include pottery, clothing, and making baskets. They also carved wood dolls.
