The Wichita Nation

General Overview: They lived throughout Kansas and Texas. They have a City named Wichita in Kansas.

 
 
Food:  The Wichita Indians grew maize, pumpkins, squash, beans, they planted plum trees. They also ground their corn against stones. Wichita Indians ate their meat raw, and they did not eat fish, but they did eat deer meat.

 

Clothing:   Men wore cloth and moccasins and women wore short skirts and deerskin soft shirts. They also would wear beads around their necks.

Shelter:  They lived in grass huts that were very big sometimes being 15 to 30 feet across. Each house had 10 to 12 beds in it, but when they went to their winter buffalo hunt they lived in teepees.

Culture-
Entertainment: They held ceremonial dances particularly the 'Gift Dance' and the 'Horn Dance'. They also held foot races in witch all the tribe competed.

Language: They Spoke Cabboan

Religion: They have extensive pantheon of whom "Spirit over All-"Kinnikitsus" is foremost and other consisting of sky and god's. 
 

Arts: They would crave or peel pumpkins for their ceremonial dances.
 

Family Life: The men mostly just hunted and went to war parties, but they also cut the big cedar poles used for houses and made their own weapons. The woman did much that needed to keep the village and family going. They were responsible for tanning and painting the hides, caring for the crops, sewing cloths, fetching food, fencing the feilds, covering the grass houses, gathering most of the food and tending to the children. The children didn't have to school, they learned what they needed to survive.
