   The Chickasaw Nation

General Overview: The Chickasaw Indians lived in the North  American Southeast. They were a  Muskogean- speaking tribe.

Food- The Chickasaw people would hunt bison, deer, bear, and fish. They grew maize, beans and squash.

 

Clothing- Men: summer: breech cloths (shirts dressed in deerskins). winter: long shaggy animal skins. 
Women: summer: dresses made from skins. winter: buffalo wraps. Women made moccasins for the whole family.
Shelter- Summer: wooden structures about 12x20 ft featuring a roof, a porch and a balcony. Winter: a circular house made of mud and partly sunk.
 

 

Culture-
Entertainment: A brutal contact sport played each summer all day games involving entire towns at tens of players similar to modern football- this is called the "ball game".
 
 

Religion:  They originally worshiped the sun, they believe the sun is the deity or that the sun is the eye of the deity.
 
 

Arts: The Chickasaw Indians mainly tatooed themselves as their one way of art.
They typically were not very concerned with many ways of art.

Family Life: Women were responsible for supervision of the slaves and tending to the fields of corn, beans, and squash. Men hunted and fished.
