Science
In Science, we have been studying the water cycle. On February 9,  a forest ranger came to our classroom to talk about Bald Eagles. In the winter, eagles live by locks and dams because they need fresh water.  Most of the water in  the winter freezes into ice, and the eagles can't get food or water.  The water by the lock and dams does not freeze.  Here are three things we learned about eagles:
1.   Eagles eat fish
2.   Bald eagles were once endangered, but now they are on the threatened list.
This is a step up from the endangered list.
3.    They are called Bald eagles because they have white head and tail feathers.
Their head and tail feathers turn white between the ages of four and five.

The ranger brought a video in for us to watch.  Then he talked about the silent flight of the the eagle.  He talked about the body part, and used  a student to demonstrated how an eagle looked.

Here are some pictures of our fun and educational afternoon:

   Social Studies

In social studies we studied about agriculture.  We  learned about livestock, crops, and farm safety.  We wrote a report on something that had to to with farming.  Two of the reports are listed below:

Cattle  by Sarah

Cattle are among the most important farm animals.  Some people eat meat of cattle that might be called veal.  We use the milk of cattle to make butter, cheese, and ice cream.  You get milk, meat and leather.  These are the different kinds of breeds of cows:  Aberdeen-Angus, Brahman, Charolais.  Those are the kinds of breeds that cattle have.

Wheat by Jerry

Wheat is in the grass family along with corn and rice.  Wheat is the world's most important food crop.  Wheat kernels are ground into flour to make things such as bread and cake.  The leading producers of wheat are China, Russia, and the U.S.

We had Farm Show and Tell Days after Thanksgiving.  It was fun and exciting.

Grandparents' Day
Grandparents' Day was Wednesday, November 24th.  We sang songs to our grandparents.  We  read stories to them.  We had a great time eating lunch with our granparents.  We hope our grandparents enjoyed the day, and had fun looking at the following Thanksgiving Day site with us:
